Are you feeling guilty listening to U2 after all the demonstrations that have been going on at the last Glastonbury. Is Bono no longer your cup of tea? Well if you feel the need for a change, leave your music culture open to bigger spaces. Imagine eastern countries, imagine vodka, imagine Poland - but don't imagine polish music. Why not try Underground Fly.
You may have never heard of them before, and it's a shame as this four piece polish band based in Poznan already have three records behind them. They were also touring all over Europe in 2010, doing festivals and opening for the likes of Slade. They have played quite a few shows in the UK, such as the Camden Purple Turtle and the 12 Bar Club in London.
Underground Fly is a mix of rock, alternative and what they call their own style, the "fly rock" which is an explosion of strong anthems, heavy guitars and drum chorus. Formed in 2002; these four childhood friends had always put music as their first priority, and their jobs have always been ruled by the band. They have been discovered by Captive Music Records and produced the three records with them. Their songs are described as killer anthems - their track Light is On possesses strong lyrics as does I'm Gonna Love You as well as Tonight we come out from the underground. Every word is powerful but at the same time touching; their lyrics speak to you and have meaning much like Bon Jovi's tracks. People said that they look like U2; and in some ways it is actually true. For example, they have an original super-cool rock band appearance, and the lyrics are a mixture of U2's and their own floating sounds.
Underground Fly are definitely not like other polish bands and no doubt you will soon hear more about them. They are a band who are not just playing music; they are creating something new; and they will perfectly suit the UK music scene
